AKA’s Annual Spring Recital

Recital dates to remember

March 1 — Recital Tickets Go On Sale

April 14th - 17th — Picture Week (Schedule Released in March) @ AKA Main Studio

May 16th — Dress Rehearsal (Schedule Released in March) @ Lake Nona High School

May 17th — Show 1 and Show 2 @ Lake Nona High School — Times TBA

    • Dancers need to arrive 15-30 minutes before their estimated start time. See the schedule below for more information.

    • Dancers must bring all of their costumes on a hanger with their dance shoes and accessories inside the garment bag. Any additional costumes will be hung on your dancer’s assigned rack. Please arrive fully dressed in your first costume. Luminary Dancers will have all of their costumes with them.

    • Please label your child’s belongings with their name to prevent mix-ups while changing.

    • This is the only time you are allowed to video record or take pictures. Please be aware of others while recording.

    • Dancers must arrive 45 minutes prior to show start time for check-in and the AKA warm up! Parents will be allowed to enter the theater 30 minutes prior to show time. Please drop-off your dancer with hair and makeup done at the stage door. All costumes and bags will be hung in the dancer’s assigned dressing room. Please remember, only volunteers will be permitted backstage. Each parent will receive a wristband to match with their dancer at pickup.

      • NO soda, chocolate, messy snacks or activities are allowed backstage. We will have water, non-messy snacks, coloring pages & a livestream of the show.

    • The lobby is open to all 45 minutes prior to the show.

    • Tickets are $35 at the door. Please purchase your tickets ahead of time!

    • Our shows are made up of 2 Acts - Dancers will be backstage for the act they are performing in. “Generations Dance” participants will be called back during the intermission before their act. Adult dancers will be allowed to sit in the auditorium after their dance is finalized, provided they purchased a ticket.

    • Concessions will be sold during Intermission in the lobby. Flowers, Recital Gifts, T-Shirts & Videos must be pre-ordered for guaranteed availability. Flowers will be available for pickup prior to the show’s start in the lobby.

    • Dancers will be dismissed to a parent/guardian with a matching wristband from the side door after our curtain call & group photo!

    • Tickets are assigned seating - $20* for the Side Sections, $23* for the Center Side Sections and $25* for the Center Sections. Children under the age of 2 years old do not require a ticket unless they will be unable to sit on your lap. (*not including processing fees)

  • All costumes will be distributed to families with a fully paid account, starting April 1st. This year, tights must be ordered by April 1st with our tights order form. The tights order form will be sent via email in March.

  • Pre-Order this year’s recital t-shirt! The order link will be sent via email in March. Our recital T-shirt will have this year’s recital logo and list of all participating student’s names on the back! Show your recital spirit and wear it during the recital weekend! These are perfect for covering up your costume while sitting in the audience! T-shirts must be pre ordered by April 17th!

  • Pre-order your recital bouquets thanks to the AKA Booster Club! These bouquets are perfect to give your dancer after a job well done! Flowers must be pre-ordered no later than April 11th! All proceeds go to support our AKA Luminaries via the AKA Booster Club! The online order form will be made available in March!

  • Tickets go on sale on March 1st for $20-$25 each! Tickets are first come, first served. For out-of-town family members, we will be hosting a livestream event at $15 per link. Families attending both shows will receive a discount in the form of a credit to their studio account. All tickets will have a small processing fee.

  • Pictures will for the most part be held on the same day as your regularly scheduled class. No classes will be held on Monday-Thursday during Picture Week. Students are expected to arrive in their full recital attire, including altered costume, tights, shoes, hair, makeup and accessories. Picture week schedule will be released in March - please contact us with any potential schedule issues.

  • Cherish your recital memories with a video of this year’s recital! The pre-order link for recital videos will be sent via email in March. Absolutely no video recording of any kind is allowed during the recital!

  • The dress rehearsal at Lake Nona High School is MANDATORY for all students. This is the one and only chance for them to practice and perform on stage before the big day! Students need to attend in full costume, hair & makeup. This is the only time you are permitted to record.
